They Attack Journalists Who Threaten Their Absolute Power
Lost in the reporting on the Ukrainian crisis, and buried in the weekend news, was this attack on a journalist in Hong Kong. The attack follows a pattern of totalitarian governments killing and maiming journalists who pose a threat to their absolute power. We saw much of this in Russia over the last few years. During the Maidan protests, many journalists were attacked and killed as well.
Totalitarian governments, such as exist in China and Russia don't waste time with courts or the rule of law. They just kill.
But here now in Hong Kong, we see an assemblage of protestors over this recent attack. Will the attack and the protests in response spark a new "Maidan" situation, this time in Hong Kong?
