Happy Thanksgiving!

Somehow Thanksgiving rolls around at just the right time each year. There's the break from work, getting together with family, eating up a storm, and, well, getting to be thankful.

If you don't always make time to think about things in your life to be thankful for, now's your chance. Even those of us going through tough times at the moment (financially, physically, emotionally, etc.) can find a thing or two for which we can honestly and sincerely say, "Thank you."

Thank you to whom? You can start with your Mom and Dad. They're why you're here. OK. So maybe some of you had a rough childhood. How about your husband or wife? Or some relative or friend who extended a kind word or helping hand to you at some point in your life? Even those of us whose lives could use a little boost can find someone out there.

The thing is, it's worth the effort. If you haven't done it in a while, you'll find that being thankful will feed on itself. That little spark of joy that comes with sincere gratitude has a way of leading you to other little sparks, once you get going. But even if you get stuck at your first try, it's worth it.

And if you've really got your mind and spirit in hear, you'll get to God at some point.. The best and biggest thanks go to Him. He made all of us and everything around us. Without Him, there's nothing. So if you've got even the tiniest bit of your life that's going good at the moment, you can thank Him for that.

But even if you don't believe in God, or haven't given Him much thought lately, give gratitude a shot today. (Although life really is better with God in the picture.) Hey, it's Thanksgiving. If not today, when?

Well, gotta get that turkey in the oven. I'm head chef today, and company arrives early. Company this year includes a little guy, just born in August. He gets added to my (thankfully) extensive list of things to be thankful for. Even if he's cranky and cries all day, there's nothing like the light of a new life to keep your hopes us. At least that's how it seems to me.

And speaking of hope, hope your day brings many blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving!
