What the Day after Thanksigiving Brings

It's the day after Thanksgiving. Nothing went according to script this week; and based on the futures, that's likely to continue.

The "script" - what's typically happened in the past - is that stocks have a good time right before Thanksgiving, then traders take profits on Black Friday (today). That didn't exactly happen this week. Stock were slapped around pretty good the days leading into Thanksgiving, with some respite on Wednesday. Today's stock futures show losses again. So the week won't be particularly upbeat - to sat the least.

"Not particularly upbeat" is putting it mildly, of course. With the years gains in stocks erased, the FANGS finally facing a reckoning, and the previously leading tech stocks being paddled pretty good, things aren't all that joyous in Stockville as we gear up for the joyous Christmas Season. But who knows? Could a year-end rally signal a change of heart, like that which the Grinch experiences after he does his dastardly deeds? It's certainly possible. And, hey, you take what the market give you, right?

Except that we're in technical territory that's raising red flags. Our brain trust remains split, but there's definitely been a lean towards "trouble ahead" - but only a lean. The sirens remain silent - for now. Something to keep in mind as we take more time off from work during this wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Meanwhile, I came across some items to be thankful for, if you haven't already thought these through yet. This comes from the Bible, the book of Ecclesiasticus.

Blessed is he. that dwelleth with a wise woman, and that hath not slipped with his tongue, and that hath not served such as are unworthy of him. Blessed is he that findeth a true friend, and that declareth justice to an ear that heareth. How great is he that findeth wisdom and knowledge! but there is none above him that feareth the Lord. The fear of God hath set itself above all things: Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it, to whom shall he be likened?

The fear of God is the beginning of his love: and the beginning of faith is to be fast joined unto it.

Surely stuff to be grateful for: a wise wife, honesty and charitably in speech, serving those who are worthy of and have earned your respect, having a true friend, seeking and finding wisdom, and, last but not least, "fearing" the Lord.  Note that this "fear" isn't being "afraid" of God. It's giving His awesome Being it's due, resulting in love of God, who always loves us, despite our faults.

Definitely something to be thankful for. Makes sense?
