The election and socialism
We're set up for even more socialism. Government is totally involved in the financial system, including now ownership of commercial banks. Government now guarantees the Commercial Paper market, so big business relies on direct government intervention to function day to day. We all know it's socialism; we're OK with it for now, because it seems there's no other way to "save" the economy.
If the next administration chooses to do so, they could easily pick up on this momentum and push through lot's of legislation that would mean even more socialism. If there's enough fear out there, it may no be hard to nationalize the health care system, the public schools, and who knows what else.
