Italy's Debt Collapse

We visited Italy in June, before the debt crisis hit. I wonder what some of the lovely people we met think of the country's dilemma?

Dilemma? What dilemma? You remember when the Italian debt "crisis" hit the fan in July, right? Oh, you forgot? Of course you did. The media doesn't talk about it anymore. The European Central Bank worked something out and all of sudden - poof! - Italy's situation turned around on a dime and was no longer dire. In fact, things seem to have been under control since then, right? So that European Central Bank must have pulled some sort of economic "rabbit" out of their hat. (What does a Central Bank's "hat" look like? Is it huge? If so, I've never seen one. Is it invisible? Maybe that's it.)

So maybe the absurdity of this is dawning on you. The ECB (European Central Bank) doesn't have any rabbits or hats. It doesn't have any miracles that made the Italian debt crisis go away. You DO understand that, don't you?

Well, none of this will prevent me from returning to Italy, the sooner the better. It's just a wonderful place to be!
