Is the Middle Class Slowly Disappearing?

More and more, we see stories about a "lost decade." It started with stock returns being basically zero for the last decade (actually more than that). Then it was a lost decade for average income. Now we're seeing more commentary about the middle class, starting with a loss of income, and now this from Bloomberg taking about a loss of net worth.

The question is: Is the middle class in America slowly disappearing?
