Radioactive Water Leaks in Fukushima: The Truth Finally Admitted

Radioactive water has been and continues to leak into the ocean around Fukushima, scene of the catastrophic tsunami that destroyed nuclear reactors located there.
Shunichi Tanaka, the head of the Nuclear Regulation Authority in Japan, and the country’s chief nuclear regulator announced on Wednesday, that the nuclear power plant at Fukushima, has been leaking contaminated water into the ocean for the two years since the accident that saw three of the plants six reactors suffer a meltdown...
Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), the power plants operator, has constantly denied that any of that water has been leaking into the Ocean, but in the last few days it has switched its position and finally admitted that it can’t actually say for sure that the water is not leaking into the sea.
Both the Japanese government and Tepco categorically denied how bad the situation was from the get-go. After the truth about the extent of damage suffered by the reactors surfaced, despite the Japanese government and Tepco downplaying the severity of the damage, tactics then switched to denying these continuing radioactive leaks.

If you don't already take these sorts of categorical denials by governments and big corporations with a grain of salt, maybe this will convince you to sharpen your skepticism. Doing so is a good exercise in reason and common sense.

Even more important, you should ask yourself whether you buy or consume products coming from the ocean near this site. For example, based on this information (which we received from another source before this story emerged) we've stopped buying a particular tuna product that we found comes from waters near this area.

I'd rather be safe than sorry. Wouldn't you?
