Zimmerman Verdict

(Reuters) - Thousands of demonstrators demanding "Justice for Trayvon" marched in major cities across the United States on Sunday to protest the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin.
While a jury of six women absolved Zimmerman of any crime with their not-guilty verdict, civil rights leaders decried the decision, and demonstrators took to the streets in New York, Boston, San Francisco and other cities.
In all the comments I've read and heard, I've yet to hear any reference to the legal issues here. Clearly, these protestors - and just about the entire mainstream media - have little interest in the law. This is all about "civil right," "racism," and a whole list of items that people have superimposed on the trial. Frankly, it doesn't bode well for the rule of law in this country. I could be wrong, but what I saw was a trial that probably never should have occurred, and once it did, proceeded to a reasonable verdict, based on the evidence and the law. And shouldn't that be what concerns us here? It does me, and if it doesn't concern you, it will if you're ever in the position of being accused of a crime and facing a trial.

But what do I know.
