A Real Reporter Weighs in on the Trump-McCain Controversy
The Trump-McCain controversy attracted a wall of politicians. One after the other, they postured in front of cameras condemning Trump's comments that McCain wasn't a war hero.
Whenever I see these video clips of politicians gathering like sharks at a feeding frenzy, I know the issue that provides the blood that attracts them needs further consideration. The Trump-McCain brouhaha is no exception.
Frankly, I've more or less sworn off mainstream media, daily news, and most internet new sources as well. I've got better things to do with my limited time and my inquiring mind. Wading through the combination of exaggeration and lies takes too much energy. The sad fact is that too many reporters and their employers have little interest in the truth, and focus all their efforts on "selling" stories. They'll say and write anything that attracts readers and listeners. Occasionally, though, you run into a reporter with at least some degree of integrity; some one like Sharyl Attkisson. (We previously noted her work HERE.) Here's what she had to say about the Washington Post's reporting of Trump-McCain:

Trump actually said the opposite of what the Post lead sentence and video caption claim. The Post might have been able to get away stating that Trump “implied” McCain was not a war hero because McCain was captured, but even that would have been a subjective interpretation since Trump had actually stated the opposite.Pretty clear and straightforward, don't you think? First, it informs us in a reasonable, even-handed manner. Second, it undermines the credibility of that wall of politicians across the entire political spectrum who smelled the blood and engaged in their recent feeding frenzy. Of course, that assumes such politicians had any credibility to begin with.
It’s true that Trump stated one time that McCain is not a war hero. But Trump stated four times that McCain is a war hero–and that was not accurately characterized in the article.
